Professor Khurshid Ahmad, a distinguished Pakistani economist, Islamic scholar, and former senator, passed away on April 13, 2025, in Leicester, United Kingdom, at the age of 93. He was a pivotal figure in the development of Islamic economic jurisprudence and served multiple terms in Pakistan's Senate. As a close associate of Jamaat-e-Islami founder Syed Abul A'la Maududi, Ahmad played a significant role in shaping Islamic political thought. He was also the founding chairman of the Institute of Policy Studies in Islamabad and co-founder of The Islamic Foundation in Leicester. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the King Faisal International Prize in 1990 and Pakistan's Nishan-e-Imtiaz in 2011.
